Brilliant…griping…a mind-boggling feast for fans of thoughtful speculative fiction…great writing and great characters…an intelligent science fiction spy novel…Charles Stross’s Laundry series all grown up…What, you mean I’ve got to write an actual review now? — Ernest Lilley,

I didn’t miss The Doors of Eden in my August Science Fiction to Look for Column in Amazing Stories, but I hadn’t had a chance to read it, so it went into the Other Recommendations section because I was sure it was going to good.

The Doors Into Eden is a parallel worlds novel with British Intelligence and a plucky amateur monster hunter in the mix and between chapters, there’s are excerpts from the natural history of different Earth’s, but it’s completely compelling. Right down to those creature planet expositions. While I’m never far enough ahead to actually read for the heck of it, I broke off and made time to go back and take a look at this. I’ll do a full review soon, honest, but just go read the free sample and tell me you were able to stop there.

Review to come.
