Sure, I’ve got all kinds of
\nsoup in the freezer.
\nBut I wanted something
\nI didn’t have.
\nAin’t it always the way?<\/p>\n

A cup of onions sliced thin
\nsauteed with some garlic
\ntill soft.
\nOne clove had a green bud
\nit must think it’s spring.<\/p>\n

Into a quart of water with
\n8 oz of tomato sauce
\nand a teaspoon of chicken base
\n(stock purists, get off my case)
\nfor 15 minutes of cheerful open simmer.<\/p>\n

Yeah, yeah, so what?
\nWait for it.<\/p>\n

Two cups of tortilla chips left over
\nfrom yesterday’s office party
\n(Except for the ones I stole
\nwaiting for stuff to simmer)
\nand 4 ounces of sauteed pork
\n(I thought it was chicken
\nwhen I took it out of the freezer).<\/p>\n

A teaspoon chili, 1\/4 each of cumin
\nand cayenne.
\nHead for the shower
\nwhile it bubbles
\nand thickens.<\/p>\n

A call from Daniel
\nwalking his dog
\nwhile I blend with the little Braun
\nI call it Eva.
\nIt’s ground pork now.<\/p>\n

You know what it needs?
\nBesides cilantro
\nwhich I don’t have.
\nA little sour cream
\nif it hasn’t gone bad
\n(and it hasn’t).<\/p>\n

Hey. This rocks.
\nMaybe I’ll have soup
